I grew up going to Benihana and other tepanyaki restaurants and my all-time favorite was the ginger sauce. I would eat it on everything, but by far the best was just pouring it over my steamed rice. As a result of moving different places and not having one of those restaurants readily available, I started making my own... Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
- Yellow Onions | 3 - 4 Large
- Peeled Ginger | 3 - 4 tablespoons
- Chopped Garlic | 2 - 3 tablespoons
- Lemon Juice | 1/4 cup
- White Vinegar | 1 - 2 cups
- Soy Sauce | 1 - 2 cups
Creating the sauce:
If you have a food processor or a really good blender, toss in the ginger and garlic and puree them well. Add in the rest of the liquid into food processor or blender and begin to feed in the onions. I like my sauce thick, so I add in extra onions until it's pretty thick. I also like LOTS of ginger, so I add a bit more in than the recipe calls for. Blend all till well moved and transfer to storage jars. Can keep in the fridge for a few weeks.
